James specializes in helping people and organizations to get stuff done with IoT: strategies, goals, objectives, plans and project work. With dozens of career projects conducted in a wide range of industries, he has helped many national and international organizations to quickly achieve their IoT implementation goals, under budget and with low risk. His work encompasses helping formulate the best technology roadmap to support business strategy, and guiding teams through project excellence and change management to deliver on the plan.

 

 

Experience:

  • James studied Business at CBU (Cape Breton University), and Business Information and Technology at NSCC.
  • Over 14 years in the corporate world (primarily the gaming industry), with business travels to over 50 countries.
  • Owned and operated several technology companies in a variety of fields dating back more than a decade – two in the area of IoT.
  • Designed and developed multiple innovative hardware/technology products and went on to sell them in major retail chains across the nation.
  • A regular mentor for technology founders/startups, and deeply involved in the Toronto (and surrounding area) Makerspace and Startup world. Also a regular mentor for elementary aged children, college and university students around startups and technology.
  • Training experience as a Regional Instructor/Manager for Maritime Environmental Training Institute (METI).
  • Regular advisor in the startup ecosystems of Toronto and York Region.

James is known for being a passionate entrepreneur and trainer. Combining his love for technology and his passion of being an entrepreneur, James plays an important role in the Canadian IoT ecosystem, with a mission for teaching people the benefits of adopting new technologies in their business.
